Manhattan Night v Manhattan Nocturne

Did they really change the name to "Manhattan Night"?
Nocturne sounds so much cooler, more sophisticated and more mysterious.
Night is sooo mundane and dull. I really hope, this won't be the final title.

They changed the name for the American market only. Maybe they had problems getting the rights to the name or something in that territory. Or as someone on another site put it it reeks of the bad kind of Americanism.

"Nocturne... what the F%4K does Nocturne mean? I mean people will think it's an opera or some type of artsy fartsy film.... It has to do with night right? So why the f&%k wouldn't you just call it night?? That's it... we're changing the title."

Either way I prefer Manhattan Nocturne and it'll still be called that in my homeland so it's okay.

Thank god, I'm not American ;)

I would prefer "Nocturne" and I'm American, so...

If anything it's an example of Hollywood dumbing everything down. They're afraid of intelligence. They'd rather endlessly reboot tired franchises than show intelligence.

Agree totally with the name. These days, it's just so bloody easy to look up a word. I mean, it literally takes seconds. But if rights are the issue, well, not much can be done there, I guess.

But yes, "nocturne' evokes a sense of mystery and maybe even dread or danger, which is what this movie looks to be about, so it's a shame they either can't or didn't want to keep it. I surely hope they are not kowtowing to the (at least perceived) ignorant masses!

I'm a huge Yvonne fan from her days on "Chuck," she has such incredible range as an actress. I'm at once looking forward to this and a little frightful of what Yvonne's character in this might do to affect the overall "perfect image" I have built up in my mind of her.

I'm sure she'll be great, though.

I think that's why she took the role. She's trying to diversify her resume, to prove she can handle many different kinds of roles. She's in serious competition vs. Emily Blunt to land the coveted Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel role, so she has to step up her game. And this is before you factor in anyone else who may also be considered for the role, although it seems Yvonne and Emily are the two leading candidates right now.

I hate the name change with a burning passion.

Ditto. But publishing is no better than the film industry; they changed the title of the first Harry Potter book from it's native Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. For American audiences only.

Apparently the publisher thought the word philosopher would generate reflexes of horror at having to confront higher learning, or even a new word, so our little American darlings were spared the need to stretch their brains. Throw in "sorcerer" and you've got Halloween, something they already understood.
