Goriest Campbell Scott character to date! Hardly recognizable = great
I only watched this indie film for Campbell Scott, and from the first second of his screen-time, I thought "What the hell! Red hair, red eyes, red spots on his face... Is that really him?! Am I watching the right movie?! "
Having seen Campbell's entire filmography, I know he excels in indie films and that his roles have been really diverse, but never this gory! He was seriously creepy in this film and quite terrifying at times. Not merely because of his character's dialogue or actions, but also because of the way he looks. In the scenes on the camera memory cards where his hair is short and kinda grey, he resembles his normal self a bit, but with heavy make-up on and that red wig, he resembles the drug-addicted twisted movie director from hell that his character ought to be!
I thought it was some quite impressive acting from Campbell, who is mostly known for softer indie roles and Broadway performances. He really outdid himself in this movie. The harder an actor is to find in a character, the higher the caliber of their performance! I feel like I need to go watch Manhattan Night again to see if I can find the original Campbell Scott somewhere in the Simon Crowley character. Great, great performance!
(reminded me of DiCaprio's sick performance in Django Unchained a little bit)
