basic questions about the reveals at the end

i got lost on some (the) main key points, as i got confused about everyone's motivations:

what did strahovsky supposedly do that was terrible? during the last conversation she revealed the part about killing her husband in the elevator scene but that was only to keep him from killing her first.

what was the significance of her wanting a horse and her stepfather killing a horse in front of her?

in what way did strahovsky "use / manipulate" brodY?

what did brody ultimately find out through his investigations that strahovsky did not want him to know?

what was the significance of her wanting a horse and her stepfather killing a horse in front of her?

It was part of the one big story of life - He was teaching her that even though you want some thing obsessively, the thrill of the quest is over once you get it. After a while, you will just want something else. Plus you have to be tough enough to receive/accept disappointments. It was a shocking way to do it but we are not given his back story so it may have been mentally normal teaching to him, cold blooded to others.

To figure out who had the tape Hobbs was receiving. Hobbs blamed and surveilled her obsessively.

what did brody ultimately find out through his investigations that strahovsky did not want him to know?

That she was a murderer, even though it was self defense as she told him. After the 1st murder, the rest are easy.

He no longer knew what to believe, partially because of loss of his family due to his obsessive lurid career and the turmoil he had been able to keep separate in the past. He knew he could no longer trust Caroline enough to go back to her because it is part of one big story, in other words, even when you get what you always wanted you still eventually grow tired of it. He had already admitted he still loved his wife but fantasized about Caroline when he was having sex with her.

I like your interpretation. I think also the horse story represents that, in life, wanting something enough doesn't mean you can have it. It was kind of strange why she wouldn't tell her husband. Maybe because he wanted to know so badly? What do you think?

I also think she wanted him to find the video. She tells him he is the only person she can talk to about it. In some weird way, she longs to admit her guilt. Early on in the movie, she asks him why people open up to him so much,and says he must have knack for asking the right questions. His reply is that he just happens to be there when they need to tell someone. She was just so manipulative and calculating that her admission cost him everything. He wanted to know so bad that he sacrificed his family. Just like she wanted the horse so bad that she sacrificed her innocence. But, nobody gets a happy ending.

That wasn't in a conversation that was from the videofootage he found in the elevator (no it doesn't make any sense considering the angles are from everywhere and it's edited perfectly but that's what it was meant to be).

Anyway she didn't kill him as self-defence he was never going to kill her, sure he was a psychopath who deserved his ending but it wasn't self-defence. She was out of harms way when she decided to kill him, that's not to say that what she did was terrible but that's up to each person to decide I suppose.

He was just being a dick, he knew that she always dreamed of having a horse so he wanted to see that dream die in front of his own eyes, literally.

She claimed she was trying to figure out who killed her husband and needed his help and was willing to seduce him to get it, when it was her all along and what she really wanted was for him to go through all the video-footage and find the one where she gets busy with the old billionaire.

what did brody ultimately find out through his investigations that strahovsky did not want him to know?

She wasn't aware that the elevator had a camera with a microcard in it filming the murder of her husband, she never intended him to find out she did that.

A good father and a good outlaw can't settle inside the same man.
