Kind of hate it...

Something about this movie rubbed me the wrong way. Still can't quite figure it out. Michael Parks was the best thing about it. He is always great.

There were a lot of things about this movie that rubbed me the wrong way.

reply

Johnny Depp definitely wasn't needed. Such a stupid role that some think is brilliant.

reply

I used to be a huge Johnny Depp fan, but it's so difficult to keep being a fan when he takes roles like that. It's like his time with Tim Burton ruined him.

reply

I kind of love it.

reply

I actually thought I would love it, but there is something I don't like about it. It's just one of those things.

reply

I was intrigued going in and loved it more than I could have imagined.

It’s probably way too tonally uneven but I think the extremes work for me. It’s bizarre, disturbing, over the top, funny and topped off with some quality performances.

reply

Yeah, I can see all that and why some would like it. There were parts I liked for sure, but overall I just kind of hated it. Michael Parks was the best thing about it and Depp was the worst. Depp may have been the reason I kind of hated it.

reply

Parks was absolutely scary at some points.
I actually liked Depp. It was ridiculous and I was like, “Why is this here?”

THE MOVIE PLAYS LIKE THE PODCAST THAT BIRTHED IT...BIZARRE PIECES JAMMED TOGETHER WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF VULGAR HUMOR...INCLUDING DEPP IN ONE OF THE FEW ROLES I REALLY LIKED HIM IN RECENTLY...IT WORKS FOR ME TOO.

reply

Maybe I will try it again some day. Until then...

reply

I’ve not heard one second of the Smodcast but I think I get what you mean.
I think Depp is at his best playing some kind of oddball.
