Actually liked Simon in this! MINOR SPOILERS!

I hated his character in the show and the last film, he's simply not believable as a human being.

In this though he's actually one of the better characters, he has some genuinely funny lines/scenes and plays the groups "straight man" way better than he does in the show. His sub plot is believable (even though Lucy's character is OTT) and his reactions to her are amusing and authentic, especially at the end ("****ing brilliant!"). I didn't like how he ended up with Lucy in the last film (the way he was around her I'm sorry but it would NEVER happen) but it's perfectly understandable that he would be the only one still in relationship. I loved how he has actually developed into realising that a girlfriend isn't the be all and end all and that his mates are more important.

Overall good job Joe Thomas! Never thought I'd say that.

It's funny I was sort of thinking the same thing. Although, I've never minded him (he has his moments) he's always been my least favourite. In the series and last film he was a little annoying sometimes with his weird facial expressions and the embarrassing decisions he makes. But in this film he was whole lot more likable and actually funnier than he's been before.

I completely agree. I know Simon's purpose in the show is to be the somewhat normal yet social awkward one but most of the time he just acted like he wasn't all there mentally. In the first movie especially, it seemed like he was in full on retard mode with how clueless he was. Here though, he's actually quite normal. I mean he's still a bit of an idiot with accidently marrying Lucy and all but he just comes across as the most level-headed of the group this time (even more so than Will).
