Brits are more likely to cross Europe or Australia for a party holiday, the US is too alien culturally.
Europe/Australia = familiar and similar.
Asia/South America = exotic and backpacky.
United States = themeparks and movie landmarks.

Am from uk myself the only reason we go Europe is because the US is far too expensive same with Australia.
Me and my friends would be more interested in driving across America or going there for spring break than we would backpacking across Australia
