Sick Woman at Eastern Lunch
What was the point of the sick woman at the Eastern lunch? Was it just to show the deterioration of woman's health?

shareIt's possible she was a transferee, someone that had undergone the procedure.
shareI thought that, too. That maybe she was a transferee, but at the later lunch with Gwen 2.0, the two women were so fascinated with her that it seemed clear that this was a brand new thing to them. There are suggestions in the film about declining health among women, especially reproductive health. I think the sick woman was there to reinforce this sense of an unexplained, unsettling, unstable modern world.
shareThis is what I thought also. Everyone is just vaguely dying. Very low fertility, is the most specific discussed, but I believe that's just a symptom. Oh, and maybe the child prostitution is supposed to be related; before they become all sick or something. Creepy future, indeed.
shareFor sure not that: it was clearly pointed in the movie that Gwen would have been the first civilian (whatever that means) to undergo the treatment.
I guess her vomiting was just another sign of the declining health of society and people.
