6/10: Well produced movie with the focus on realistic storytelling

This is not a big production, but a smaller one. One in the line of newer movies that positively surprise and gives a good valued option to Hollywood.
This is a slowly woven script in subtle surroundings and an allmost quiet soundstage, the silence is used with quite allright results as far as it comes to creating a more realistic feeling to it emphasizing the human doubts regarding the issues met.
Watching it is not wasted time, if you have seen this plotline before a few times the takeaway is the connection it does with the characters - it lets the story (which is the characters struggles) take the front seat and achieves suprisingly realistic results doing so.
Pro's

•CGI - yes, effects. If you were to compare them to top notch ones they aren't, but they are well done and not overdone which is key for these kinds of productions. Good bang for the buck so to speak.
•I quite like the open ending, it's a step away from the run of the mill endings where you get a final thought (read; the message of the movie) wrapped up and ready to go, if the message of the movie isn't clear by the end it never is. However an original sentiment to grant closure is not wrong, which this movie has a bit earlier in it.
Con's
•Acting was not top notch at times, it has to be if you want to compete with Hollywood (taking the smaller budget into account).
•Sound, used the silence well but slightly too much (and don't take that as I want a disruption of it - I just want something to fill some of it - as for an example when they are in the park some sounds of rattling leaves that often bring valueable connotations etc...).
•This theme has been touched on many times, sometimes better but during the last decade rarely more realistic, it makes it seem not too folish to believe this could happen within the next century (seing as the first official head transplant is scheduled to 2017).
