The Truth is probably somewhere in the middle

Tim Jenison is not a trained artist, but Vermeer probably was. So it seems likely that Vermeer would have used something like this, but not as slavishly, as he also would have had his skills as a painter. So probably more of a guide or aide for him than the absolute determiner as it was for Tim.

It doesn't seem likely that Vermeer would have used something like this. At all.

Gotta love the uselessness of these bald assertions that offer no supporting argument at all.

Hypocrite alert - you just described your post perfectly. Want to get into the gritty details? Frankly I'm surprised anyone would be convinced by the BS conveyed in this film.

reply

I agree. Vermeer was just an incredibly talented artist and for some reason some people have trouble accepting this.

reply

Yeah, and it's mostly people who are not artists, or cannot comprehend what artists do. That's basically the gist of the entire film - a clever non-artist had to create a convoluted method that took a painstaking 7 months, copying every millimeter of a fixed scene (lighting didn't change, unlike reality), in order to duplicate something an artist like Vermeer could do based on his eye, talent, and skill alone in probably a fraction of the time.

Not true at all. Fortunately I know what to do with trolls.

In other words, no, you don't want to get into the details. You'd rather stick with your "bald assertions that offer no supporting argument at all". Got it.
