I loved this documentary, and found it utterly enthralling. But how much of it was genuine?
Given that this was directed by Teller and scripted by Penn & Teller, is the movie an elaborate hoax? A spoof? Does this method actually work?
I've lost track of the number of times I've seen Penn & Teller show us a trick, how it was done, and then surprise... it wasn't done like that at all.
Asked myself the same question.

shareif they are going to pull off a hoax why not make it in an area where the general public would actually give a *beep* No one really cares if a master painter was really gifted or not.
shareIt's not a hoax. Works perfectly if done correctly. And I'm not sure why shadypoential thinks that "no one really cares" about this subject. I remember that Vermeer's work was fascinating to most of my classmates at the art school, and looking at his painting really made me feel bad about my own skills. Thanks to this movie, I feel a lot better now!
