It would have. It feels like he lost all his mojo in the intervening years. Clearly something going on with NB, not sure what though. But for studios not to have been hounding him all these years to make D10 there is something going on bts. Nothing hes done since D9 has come close to being as awesome. He could just be a one hit wonder.
