I just saw it. And I must agree and disagree. Yeah, in order to get people in the seats that weren't previously interested in the sport tgey have to dramatize.
But in the movie they do not ever say this is the truth are one and only way the story goes.
I myself have no real interest in cycling but my dad did when I was young. So I did watch the tour every year and are very familiar with the rise and fall of Mr. Armstrong. Within Europe cycling was a huge sport at the time - it isn't in any scale like it anymire. And that is very much to attribute to Lances scandal and a few other's that coincided around the time (for Germany particularly Jan Ulrich's failings).
So to a certain community this is a very relevant and defining moment in the sport they love.
When I went with my dad we met a lot of his buddys in the theater - they had not planned to see it together. This movie has it's rightful place. I have never seen non-movie goers discuss so heartfelt and engagingly about a topic that they seem to know all the source material about. All of them had read the different books written by witnesses (the other athlets) and Mr. Walsh. For the first time I can remember I was on the outs when it came to talking about a film.
You have every right to your opinion about storytelling, cuts, dialoge etc. I just wanna make the point that it is not stupid as a subject or has no place.
