Ben Foster is a perfect pick

I hope they let Ben Foster really get into this role. Armstrong had a serious temper and...well, watch Alpha Dogs...

I agree. He is an amazing actor, not just Alpha Dogs but Hosatages (which was the first film that made me aware of him), Pandorum and The Messenger are one of his best acting performance too. Oh and how can I forget 3:10 to Yuma, he nails that one

I agree completely. He was just insane in Alpha Dogs, when he took out that whole room of people, I was in awe. But aside from his hotheaded tendencies, I think he would make a perfect Lance Armstrong. That picture on the main page is very convincing.

.. I am, in a word, terse.

He's a great actor who steals every movie he's in. I have high hopes for the movie.

I agree. He's an excellent actor.

Ben is a gifted and dedicated actor/artist and very professional in how he works his craft. I had the pleasure to work with and photograph Ben on this film and I can say that he was simply the best man for the job. I cant think of anyone else who would have done better. Athletically Ben worked his ass off to be able to do what was asked of him physically and more...he really went for it and it paid off. I'm glad that Working Title/Studio Canal got this one made before a big Hollywood studio did...it needed to be made without the cumbersome machinations that often accompany big hollywood films. The photo you see was taken during filming in Le Grave France. He looks so convincing as Armstrong in this first look image that many press outlets were asking why they were being sent an image of Armstrong. In fact months later a newspaper in the UK unwittingly used this image in an article they ran about Armstrong..later to discover it was Ben Foster. This was a fantastic project to work on in so many ways...Working with such a fabulous story teller and director as is Stephen Frears, Excellent core of Producers, a fun and talented crew, lovely cast and simply breathtaking locations. These projects don't come around that often...can't wait to see it on the big screen.

I hope and trust that your (everybody involved) work paid off.

nice! did he stayed in character off screen? did he went all method? have you met Robin Wright?

He's been talking a little about the part while he was promoting Streetcar Named Desire in London and it seems like it. And let me tell you that he was downright creepy and scary in Streetcar (and in top form) so I have no doubt he was able to pull it off in the movie.

AGREED. I've been waiting years for him to get a major starring role. He always seems to be a supporting character - and even then he steals scenes.

One of my favorites.

Check out Big Trouble. He was hilarious, and that was a very underrated movie. One of two Tim Allen live-action movies (Galaxy Quest is the other) which is very good. Just not for Gator fans.

I just saw the trailer and, well, my thoughts exactly. He just does such a great, authentic job in everything he's in, even when the thing doesn't happen to be very good. Glad to see him getting what could end up being a more "breakout" starring role - he deserves it.

Also I'm totally still fascinated by Armstrong's rise and fall, so I'm really just glad they chose someone who will pull off his character so well, both dramatically and physically.

Yeah, it takes a tit to re-enact a tit.
