Interesting but not very in-depth

Not very long into The Program, the latest film by director Stephen Frears, you get the sense of where this story is headed. American cyclist Lance Armstrong is looking for some way to get himself over the hump — and that way is through drugs. There was no way to shy away from that portion of Armstrong’s career — especially when it became such a large part of it — but it seems almost forced or way too early to be jumping on that plot detail, instead, assuming that we know why we came there. And that is the biggest issue with The Program. It is very interested in tearing down the legend of Armstrong, but never interested in what led up to his choice to cheat: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/the-program/

"you get the sense of where this story is headed"

so, you did not know about the doping scandal before the movie?!?!?!

That's one of the big problems this film had I think. Unless you were living under a rock you knew what was going to happen. It was just a matter of details they put into the film.

That and the fact the lead character is a morally bankrupt human being.

yes and no. i knew the main events, but not the details, so in that regard it was a pretty good view. considering all the crap that came out around the same time it was even exceptional in comparsion. oh and it had chris o dowd in it, which makes everything worth watching.
