Lance Armstrong Is Still My Hero Gad-damitt!

Come on people, this is a man who worked with sick children. Uhhh...LIVE STRONG???? Any of you fools heard of that wonderful organization.

Drugs or not, Lance Armstrong remembered where he came from and gave something back. Society just likes to build up these heroes and then tear them back down.

They were all doping, and Lance Still won!!! Think about that for a second or two. The man is a true American hero and legend. Putting all those evil, lefty, Frenchies back in their place.

what he gave back too: was bullying and threatening people who wanted to ride clean, and who didn't want to keep their mouth shut.
He is a sorry excuse for a man, and i hope he crawls in a hole of shame from what he did to these people not to mention the shame he brought over his own children.
He is a good athlete, but a very small human being

It's very interesting that you are using the same arguments Armstrong used to justify himself.

Someone who uses potentially dangerous drugs in order to achieve victory is far from being someone who I refer to as a hero.

Someone who uses threats, public manipulation and a disease as a shield and a pillar to sustain a national hero status that basically relies on lies... is far from being my hero.

Someone who goes on with this deception for nearly 15 years, lying to journalists, lawyers, judges and his own fans... is far from being my hero.

We know that a majority of the riders were doping. We don't know that all of them were.

And even if that was the case, I am hardly dubious that it could be use as an excuse to redeem yourself. It's kinda like justyfing a terrorist action just because there are many loonies out there killing people.

He also did good things. I am fully convinced that fighting cancer was an honest desire on his end and that he used part of his resources to fulfill that goal. He is a complex, interesting character, partly angel and partly demon, which in my opinion is well depicted in the movie.

Now history is full of characters that combine good deeds with horrible procedurals. Stalin also used many resources to provide every single citizen with free healthcare, and as much as the comparison may be exaggerated, I don't think you would consider that enough to forgive his acts.

Admire his good actions all that you want, but be honest with yourself and admit that he isn't remotely someone you will put in front of your children as an example.

This film makes him look like a total A-hole and a phony. Somewhat heavy-handedly I think. But .. it all happened so...
