Cheryl Cole?
When David Walsh is listing Armstrong's celebrity friends to his editor, I'm sure he says 'Cheryl Cole' instead of 'Sheryl Crow'.

shareno he actual does mean Cheryl Cole, as a British paper by the time Sheryl Crow is a one hit wonder, or maybe 2
shareBut wasn't Crow in a relationship with Armstrong?
Edit: I've just looked at the subtitle file and it says 'Sheryl Crow' but it still sounds to me like he says 'Cheryl Cole'.
Actually mm,
Sheryl Crow dated Armstrong for years and stood by him after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. At the time she was probably the best known, most well-loved female music artist of that time and crossed a number of styles: rock, indie and country and won awards in a number of them. To this day she sells out concerts and her album sales are high as well. There were a number of people who asked if one of the reasons he left her was because she was more famous than he was. Not saying it's true just that the question was raised about a guy who was and still is clearly driven by his own ego. You can see his ego up close, personal and in action if you watch the documentary on the fraud he perpetrated.
Armstrong left his wife and child or children (not sure if it was one or two) to be with Sheryl. So in the end she is still famous for a wide variety of positive reasons and he's just a jerk who lied to everyone and is clearly only sorry about the fact that he got caught.

BUT SHE IS STILL semi-big here for one album in 1999, that it
Same with Tim McGraw or Eric Church, those two are nobodies as never been in our charts.
It is something with Country Artists, they forget the Ocean and never come to Europe to get their music played
The way it tends to work is that people who are "big" in the UK are the nobodies in the US -- nobody in the US has heard of Cheryl Cole, but Sheryl Crow has had a long and successful career in the US. It's immaterial if she hasn't in the UK - this market is insignificant if you've made it in the US market.
Your little UK world may think she or others are "nobodies" but the US doesn't care about UK shit.
As OP can I just say this wasn't about who was more famous, Crow or Cole. I'm a big fan of the talented Crow and have most of her stuff, but own exactly nothing by Cole, who has forged a lucrative career on looks alone.
The point I was trying to make was just that he clearly meant Crow, but did he say Cole?
Ok, then I can tell you for sure it WAS Crow. I was listening to that particular conversation pretty closely because I was actually surprised she didn't come up more often in the movie or the documentary. She was a big part of his life for a long time and he went to the Grammys with her at least once. I know they were planning on marrying and that he broke it off. She actually devoted an album to it… one song in particular seems to be her version of "You're so Vain".

Fair enough Janine.
I too was waiting for a reference to her, which was why it grabbed my attention when it sounded like he said Cole. But the subs do say 'Crow' so it's just me.
Well stemal, I have to confess (far too damn often! ) that I'm not perfect.
But I really was paying attention in that scene because I couldn't believe Lee Pace was in it. So I was already "at attention" so to speak when he said Sheryl Crow… but if everyone else is saying Cole, I'll bow to the majority.

I just watched this film and laughed out loud, because he definitely says "Cheryl Cole", I don't care what the subtitles say. It really stuck out.
shareWell, I guess that answers the burning question for everyone then. THANKS!

I think he says Sheryl Crowe, but that Irish accent can be so... distracting...
shareI've always thought so too. But it appears that we're in the minority on this board!

Finally I can say this: Forever alone!!
Seriously though, I love his accent... and I crack myself up at the same time with it. "Here we are, one year into the Tour of Renewal, and the average racing speed has gone OOOP!"
