its really sad, van damme is trying HARD to be like stallone - going back to his old characters for a comeback, however they sucked the first time around and suck even more the second time.
Except that he's not playing the same character...I just read the synopsis, and I have to admit I'm a bit confused. He plays the mentor (now with a different name), someone else plays Kurt Sloane (his original role), and all roles are re-cast.
This would be like Stallone re-booting Rocky, playing Mic, and having some effeminate actor playing Rocky. I don't get the pitch of this, why it was green-lit.
When I heard JCVD was doing another Kickboxer movie, I was stoked. I would prefer he kept his role as Kurt though, an older/wiser character, now mentoring a young fighter. Basically a proper sequel that erases the bad Sasha Mitchell movies.
I was gonna correct you by sayin that he did not play Kurt Sloane, he played Frank Dux. But then I thought: do I have that right? And apparently I didn't. I was getting this movie mixed up with BloodSport. Been waaay too long since Ive seen both movies. Anyway....carry on. lol
Oh and btw, I have no problem with Van Damme makin more of these movies. Yes they did kind of suck back in the 90s but they were still highly enjoyable. So I say let him make whatever the hell he wants. The movie JCVD was damn good and highly entertaining!
I'll watch The Muscles from Brussels in anything...lol
And where exactly is Stallone rebooting his old characters? Unless you mean the actual comeback which he made with Rocky and Rambo franchise.. and they sucked? When exactly? Rocky Balboa is pretty good movie, Rambo 4 not one of the best, but still pretty good. And Sly came back in Creed for which he was supposed to win Oscar.
