Why was JCVD's voice dubbed?

In some scenes JCVD's voice was someone else who sounded nothing like him. Did they think we wouldn't notice? It was laughable.

No idea. It's one of my complaints with an otherwise enjoyable film. Some scenes it's harder to notice than others, but I could definitely tell it wasn't JCVD. Same thing always bugged me about The Quest, where they dubbed in another voice for all the fight screams.

"It's my car." RIP Charles Bronson

I noticed that most of the dubbing was during the last fight and the one in the rain. My guess is that background noise interfered with the audio they got on set, and for whatever reason JCVD wasn't able to do ADR after the fact.
