Who would you cast?

Obviously the casting was all wrong in this lol. So, who would you cast?

Here's mine:

Corrine: Charlize Theron
Olivia: Jessica Lange
Cathy: Elle Fanning
Christopher: Graham Rogers
Carrie: Emma Lyle (though I would have said Abigail Breslin in her younger days)
Corey: Ty Simkins (or a young Nathan Gamble)

This would have been way better as a hollywood movie hate to say it...

Your turn!

Well for adult Cathy for the next movie, I think Kim Matula (Hope Logan on The Bold And The Beautiful) would be perfect.

I was just telling someone how Elle Fanning would have made a better Cathy.

Cathy: Adelaide Clemens, Lily Collins, Elle Fanning or Emily Kinney
Chris Jr: Issac Hempstead Wright or Liam Aiken
Corrine: Emma Roberts, Amber Heard or Blake Lively
Chris Sr: Chris Evans
John Amos: Matthew Macfadyen
Bart: James Badge Dale
Malcom: Nick Dunning or Ian McElhenney
Olivia: Blair Brown, Katey Segal or Drew Barrymore

Those last two are my wildcards. ^_^

I'd leave Carrie and Cory as is. I liked the look of the twins, even if it was a bit off. I think they might have been good at playing out the closeness if the directors gave them more screen time.

I haven't thought out much for sequels, but I'd pick

Adult Cathy: Holiday Grainger or Adelaide Clemens (I really like Adelaide Clemens because she reminds me of Kira from The Dark Crystal come to life. ^_^ )
Carrie: Gabriella Wilde
Jory: Jamie Bell
Young Christopher (from Garden of Shadows): Mason Dye

Adelaide Clemins is a bit too old for Cathy in Flowers in the Attic. She's 24- twice the age that Cathy is meant to be at the beginning. I also think she's too pudgy looking for a ballerina. Lily Collins is also 24 and might look very strange as a blonde. Emily Kinney is 28. That would make her older than any of the actresses you have for Corrine. Elle Fanning is the most appropriate both age wise and in terms of appearance.

Issac Hempstead Wright is cute but too awkward looking for Chris, who is meant to be very traditionally handsome (blond, blue eyes). Liam Aiken has the same issues and is also too old (24)

I think Emma Roberts, Amber Heard, and Blake Lively are all too young for Corrine. They're all in their 20s. Even if Corrine got pregnant as soon as she left with Christopher at 18 she'd be 19 by the time she had the baby, and Christopher was 14 at the beginning of Flowers in the Attic. So Corrine would have to be at least 33. By the end she'd be 36. I think all those girls would be stretching it age wise (Heard is 27, Roberts is 23, and Lively is 26).

For Olivia, Drew Barrymore is 38. There is no way that anyone would buy her as the mother of a 33 year old Corrine (yes I know she's not really her mother but people have to at least believe it's possible!). The others are more appropriate.

The only other issue I have with your choices is Gabrielle Wilde as the adult Carrie. She's more appropriate for the adult Cathy. Carrie suffers from some kind of dwarfism. Chris and Cathy think it's due to her early growth being stunted due to lack of nutrition, exercise, fresh air etc. However it's also implied that it might be a genetic condition that resulted from incest.

I would have cast Gina Tognoni as Corrine. Good looks for the part and she's a good actress.

Charlize and Jessica are fantastic choices for Corrine and Olivia. To be honest, I'd be alright with them casting almost anyone for Corrine besides Heather Graham — her performance was absolutely dreadful, even if she did look a bit how I imagined the character to look. Then again, this was made for TV (and for Lifetime no less), and perhaps if it had been receiving the proper film treatment, they would have gotten a better cast and script, for that matter. However, here are my favorite casting choices had they decided to go a different (and in my opinion, better) route.

Corrine — Charlize Theron, Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Chastain
Olivia — Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton, Ellen Burstyn (despite the whole movie being pretty terrible, she was quite a good fit for the role)
Cathy — My personal favorite for her is Nicola Peltz, given that she looks closest to how I imagined Cathy to look while reading the book. However, I also am a fan of Elle Fanning for the part.
Christopher — Callan McAuliffe, or perhaps an unknown actor. However, I like Mason Dye as the character physically, so I can see why they cast him as Chris.
Carrie and Cory — Unknown actors
