Corrine and her father

did they have an incestuous relationship too? I've just started watching it and kinda get that vibe at this point, 1 hour into it

Other posters on the board asked the same thing and apparently no, they didn't. He just favored her very much. Daddy's little girl.

Spoiler alert!

The daughter is not Olivia Foxworth 's Daugher. She is the daughter of a younger beautiful mistress that the father Malcolm Foxworth had. When the mistress died the father and his wife took the baby and raise it as their own. Corrine Dollanganger Foxworth looks exactly like her real mother, which is why her father spoiled her, and why her mother hates her.

Malcolm Foxworth ( who was really handsome in the book, and had his choice of women) never loved Olivia Foxworth . He married her because he figure that she would be loyal, faithful and most of all grateful to him.

ok, thanks. That makes sense. I think I will read the book(s)

You were right except for one slight thing....Alicia didn't die when Corrine was born. Alicia was locked up in the attic until she had Corrine and then Malcolm squared her and Christopher Sr. off. Alicia eventually dies from breast cancer when Corrine was a teenager.

Actually quick correction: Alicia, Corrine's mother, was not Malcolm's mistress - at least not by choice. She was his stepmother (younger obviously and more close in age to Malcolm which pissed him off for various reasons) and one night, after many attempts, he raped her.

which book is this in?

Garden Of Shadows. The last book has all the info.

No. Like one user already pointed out he really loved her because she put him so much in mind of his father's young pretty wife who he raped and impregnated with Corrine. He named Corrine after his mom I guess so he wouldn't be deceived by her beauty like he was his mother's. So yes there is an innuendo that he had an unnatural attachment to his mom but not to his daughter.

I felt like its heavily implied that the father wanted more from Corrine. Hence his reaction when Corrine went with his half brother he was jealous and angry. Incest clearly runs in the families genes. Her father looked at her in a way he never looked at his wife. The lines between them being blood related are blurry to the majority of them. But yeah I do think it implied his fondness was not exactly your typical father daughter fondness, he liked her more than that. Eurgh I shudder at the thought!

Most (if not all) VC Andrews books contain incest or rape.
I think there was a little something there.
