Shulem and the morning butter
He tells the Orly Banai character that when his wife, Devora, was alive, every morning she took the butter out of the fridge to soften so that when he came back from Shaharit, it was spreadable. Then in a later scene we see him trying to spread cold butter, frustrated.
I don't get why he can't take out the butter himself on his way out to Shaharit. Is there some halakhic prohibition against touching food before Shaharit? What's the problem?
