Possible Oscar Nominations?

For Beckinsale as Best Actress in a Leading Role? For Whit Stilman for Best Adapted Screenplay? Best Costume Design?

Do you guys think that it'll get them?

reply

Well, nobody gets blowed to bits, except morally, or whiplashed, save with a sharp tongue, greed is hinted at, functionnal familly and order have a go, and eros and it's genos consequences is on the mind all the times.
Debatable.

You can't possibly be serious, can you?

I suppose it could get a costume nomination, but other than that, this film ain't getting squat. We can revisit this board at the end of 2016/early 2017, and we can look at not just the Oscars, but the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. We'll see who's more clear-eyed regarding this swill.

Oscar nominations haven't come out as I write this, but with the Golden Globes and BAFTAs out, I think it's safe to say this isn't getting any Oscar nominations. Absolutely ridiculous that anyone thought that it would.

This is like a filmed play for television (and not all that good), there's nothing cinematic or awards-worthy about it.

reply

Well critics and audiences really liked it

Plus not that many British Movies standout this Awards Season.

The movies this year haven't been that great. So this very good movie has a shot.

By US Release dates I'd say it's the movie of the year

a nice film but an oscar? don't think so

reply

The only one I could see would be Best Supporting Actor for Tom Bennett. He absolutely stole every scene he was in. And if you think he wasn't in the film enough to get a nomination, remember the BSActress nomination for Viola Davis in "Doubt," and she basically had one short scene.
