The skeptical woman proudly calls it a fake and buggers off

She has the video of the child throwing things in the kitchen and says "that's it, complete hoax" and walks away with her own smartarsedness. I really wanted to punch her in the face.

Me too.

The skeptical woman was right (I mean in the real life case). They caught the girl faking a number of times. Here is a video of the real interview with the little girl that was re-enacted in the movie. She is quite clearly faking it. And keep in mind, this video is the thing that they present their best evidence.

Anyone that still believes this case after seeing that video is either a complete idiot or in denial.
Maybe both.

Or they make a thread about it here  Stupid - foolish, gullible, doltish, dumbbell... Need input!

Anyone that still believes in the case after seeing the video.....Makes threads about it here?
Are you sure that makes sense? lol

reply

Honestly, anyone who believes any Ed & Lorraine Warren "investigation" is a complete idiot.

reply

Yeah, I understand why she was skeptic, but did they really have to make her so unlikable (including saying things like "So much for your own belief")?

reply

Lol, in that respect, this movie was a lot like those Ghost/psychic/whatever shows where they include a clip of the tolkien skeptic who, even though they are 100% correct, the show makes them look like a total *beep*

reply

Yeah it pissed me off when she said "So much for your leap of faith."

reply

Yeah, she went beyond skeptical and just a plain *beep* She was obnoxious and not likable.

Yeah it pissed me off when she said "So much for your leap of faith."

I just realized that that quote takes a much sadder turn when you remember Grosse talking about how he believed his daughter was sending him messages from the afterlife! So, she might as well have said, "Oh, you think your dead daughter was trying to contact you, and got your hopes up about believing in the supernatural with this case? Well, too bad!"

reply

Was the real Anita Gregory really that mean?

reply

Yes she was, but then again the British Society for Psychical Research refused to publish her report and findings.

Thats one of my few beefs with this movie.
It would've been more interesting if they made her character a little more relatable, since she actually has a point of not going with the Hodgsons side of the story from the get-go without concrete proof.

It felt like a cheap ploy to manipulate the audience, giving the Warrens and the Hodgsons more credibility just for the sake of making a point when the movie was already doing that from the start.
They did something similar with Campbell Scott's character in 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' just so the spiritual side of the story gained more weight.
