so, what did the demon actually want?
Since the demon, as the nun, appeared to Lorraine in the beginning at Amityville and in her house, was she who it was after? If so, why go to a house in England and haunt a family?

shareI couldnt work that out either.I figurer James Wan added that to his mythology regarding The Warrens this is a fictional film for the most part. As far as the case in England The Enfield Hainting 2015 tv mini series with Timothy Spall was much better and accurate to what supposedly happened and who was involved.
Yeah....
I mean it made great numbers at the box office - it's looking like there might be several squeals or spinoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if this this 'demon nun' story arch gets carried into multiple movies.
Just look at how far the 'Saw' movies have gone...
The demon wanted Lorraine to renounce her religion. The demon came as a nun,a big figure in the Catholic church.
shareI think the demon wanted the child. Perhaps it had some kind of foresight and knew the Warrens would come knocking and put a stop to it. So it began showing up in visions to Lorraine in order to break her and get her to stop the good work that they were doing.
shareRegardless of whether you believe in the paranormal the Enfield haunting was supposedly a poltergeist, there was no heeby jeeby 'grey entity' just a lot of flying china and some acrobatic chairs. The Warrens however are good-vs-evil types who made their money lecturing about epic crap battles, they believe they are the superheroes of the supernatural so it makes sense that either they as producers, James Wan as director or the studio itself asked for there to be a battle of the forces at some point in the movie.
In the real haunting The Warrens were barely even involved because when they started asking questions about church involvement or anything like that they were told to bugger off with all their biblical bollocks and let the scientists work in peace with their spectrometers and ectotectors and whatnot. Those hippies.
Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived. -Isaac Asimov
it wanted to hurt people. Demons hate God and people.
shareWhen you ask Christians a logical question and they are not able to answer with logic they usually say :
"The Lord works in mysterious ways"
The same can apply to demons, if God can get away with that rubbish (and he is supposed to be awesome, right?) then I don't see why demons can't (THEY are the ones supposed to cheat you, unlike God who says one thing and does another and then tells you "I work in mysterious ways, so F-you I'm always right").
It seems like it was aware of them, knew about what they were doing and wanted to make them suffer, just completely break them.
