I thought i had read somewhere that the enfield haunting was proved to be fake?

Not at all was just confused with how they can claim its based on a true story if it was proved fake

Whether true or not, reports were made of poltergeist-type and other activity, and these *were* investigated by many "experts," the Warrens included. There was much media attention. The story surrounding the reported activity is definitely true - I'm speaking in general terms - even if the activity itself wasn't supernatural.

Yes, therefore it's based on a true story. Do you seriously think that the makers of all those movies which are based on true stories believe that actually happened?
