General question on hauntings

I made a cynical friend of mine watch this and after she theorised that hauntings always seem to revolve around women and girls, which is - her words - "why nobody takes them seriously" - so I wonder if anybody knows of any documented hauntings that centered on a family with sons instead of daughters, etc?

Tell your friend that yeah, no one took The Exorcist or the first Poltergeist seriously.

As for one featuring males as the victims... lemme think on that one.

The exorcist was based off the true story that involved a young boy not a girl like in the movie
