Almost fell asleep
I got about two-thirds of the way through this film when stopped watching. I realized I had no interest in the story or any of the characters, and had not found a single moment to be remotely frightening or even interesting. The old man was laughable, the voice and makeup were so bad I was appalled. Having seen the trailer I thought the movie would use clever and innovative techniques to make her presence scary, because her makeup was also incredibly poor. But I was wrong, this movie did nothing original in it's scare tactics or suspense building.
I really don't understand how a movie like this is regarded as terrifying while a movie like The Babadook is hated by many people. Conjuring 2 was one of the most boring horror movies I've ever watched. I watched it like I watch any other horror movies: at midnight, alone in my apartment, with headphones, and I found myself completely and utterly incapable of experiencing even the slightest emotions resembling fear or terror. The main antagonists had shockingly poor makeup designs, nothing about them was scary, and all attempts at horror and suspense seemed incredibly unoriginal and flat out boring.
I mean for *beep* sake, I've seen a number of horror movies that weren't necessarily scary, but they were at least entertaining. This movie was far more dull, cliche, and unoriginal than I expected. Why do people eat these types of movies up? Why do people want horror movies that use the same nonsense cliches and predictable jump scares, instead of innovative and original horror movies that are genuinely terrifying? I really don't know whether to blame the audience or the producers.
This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time.
