Never read the book, just saw the trailer - but, if there was a virus that was going to randomly wipe out half the human population on Earth, would not that be a good thing for the planet, so long as it was entirely random and just struck humans willy-nilly without any preferences?

I really liked Da vinci, thought Angels, Deception Point and Digital Fortress were ok (not great but fun enough and Digital Fortress was ahead of it's time drawing attention to the NSA). But Lost Symbol was crap - bored me to tears - so I didn't bother with Inferno.
The book was really boring (or maybe I've just grown out of Dan Brown) but I did enjoy the concept and how it worked out. But then again, you already know the twist, so...
