Sinskey is supposed to be 20 years older than Langdon

In the book Elizabeth Sinskey is supposed to be about 20 years older than Langdon, old enough to be his mother. In this movie she is played by an actress who is 12 years younger than Hanks!

They should have casted someone like Meryl Streep or Jane Seymour, who are both still less than 10 years older than Hanks.

Yes but the actress playing Sinskey is already 48 so she's not really young.

Sinskey is meant to be an old attractive woman and I think someone like Jane Seymour would have carried it off well.

From an early review of the movie: "Elizabeth Sinskey, who just happens to be an old flame of Langdon’s."

That's why they have casted an actress younger than Tommy boy.
