Well, if you consider that Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code had also mediocre reviews and both were still hits...I don't think Inferno will be in danger.

But why? Why do critics seem to constantly trash these movies? I mean, it's Tom Hanks. And these movies can't be any more silly than any given MCU film.

Because they're not good movies. Doesn't help that they're based on poorly written books that depend on rubes who buy into any conspiracy theories to sell, and people with the attention span of a knat to think Brown writing 1 and a half page chapters is good writing.

That is the fate of Langdon movie series, dear Block-Busted. For me - as a fan of mentioned movies - it's hard to understand that Langdon's adventures are receiving ratings worse than "Bad Moms" and equal to last two DC's installments that i couldn't even finish watching. Langdon movies are not THAT bad, but i don't really care about critics anymore - i'm glad that i like and enjoy them.
