Movie should've been called: 'Inferno; Nothing like the book!'
Where do I start??
What's the point of making a movie of a book, when the movie only has 5% reference to the actual book?
I reread the book right before seeing the movie and it was one disappointment after the other.
The characters they've changed, the storyline they've changed, the plot they changed, the've changed they details in the book.
In fact, this book should be the easiest one to make a movie about, because everything is so neatly described. But no!
They decide to hire the most bland Sienna Brooks known to man. Sienna Brooks/Felicity Jones had no expressions throughout the whole movie, but a bland face. She was never really angry, never really happy, never really sad, she was just.... there. And where did her story go? And her blonde hair? And bald head? And her scooter? The only thing she had in common with book-Sienna, was the name and the fact that she loved Zobrist.
Sidse Barbett Knudsen was great, but this is not Elizabeth Sinskey. She is missing her grey hair, her motion sickness, and take away her weird storyline about her and Robert being in love.
Provost? What was that all about!? Being on a containership instead of a yacht and wandering around killing people all over the place. Especially when he kills Omar Sy's character, who also has changed from being German to French and is now a bad guy. The guy who really is the bad guy Jonathan Ferris, just doesn't exist. (Omar Sy is awesome though.) But everyone in this movie are wrongly cast and the life has been sucked out of them. It feels like they have so much running to do, that they are already tired before the movie even starts.
And my favourite. Why did they take the part of where they get dressed up as punk rock people. Awww. And the only thing they actually got spot on was the fact that the museum guide Marta was pregnant. An unimportant detail, yet it made to the movie. Maybe next time, prioritize!
Have you noticed any other changes? (I saw many more, but would love to hear yours.)
