Surprised that the trans friendly messages have not been picked up on...

in the media. But good to see kids might adopt a different outlook if the show's message gets across.

reply

I don't see any such messages.

reply

Clearly you are not paying any attention.

You don't see the pro-trans message? How can you not? Amethyst changes female to male frequently. When Steven fuses with Connie, he becomes a woman. That's just a few of the more obvious examples.

This show is so loving and accepting of all forms of love, genders, and sexual preferences. In fact, that's how my daughter described it to me, as positive in all those regards.

This is a great show.

"I guarantee, if you read it again, you'll realize he is not feeding his rooster to her cat."

reply

Stevonnie is actually non-binary and goes by they pronouns.

reply

Even better.

"I guarantee, if you read it again, you'll realize he is not feeding his rooster to her cat."

reply

i guess you could call that trans friendly. a show that was really trans friendly that i noticed early on was lilo and stitch. steven universe, not so much

reply

Ah, you mean Pleakley (sp?). Hmm, well I'd actually call Pleakley more drag than trans, since he just seems to like to dress up as a woman but doesn't really seem to identify himself as one. Like how Bugs Bunny would turn into a woman occasionally but he never felt like a woman in a male's body.

reply

Yeah. Pleakley is gender fluid, which is still a great thing but any trans coding there is somewhat stunted by the fact Pleakley's gender fluidity is played for laughs more often than not. That's not to say that Pleakley can't be a baby step in the right direction but compared to the twilight run that is Stevonnie, there's little point in even making the comparison.
