"Mr. Greg" discussion

Now that was a musical hoot! 

Though it's not all Broadway (or whatever they have) song and fun! It more importantly buried the hatchet with Greg and Pearl. They've never been very close or gotten along, despite caring about Steven the most. With this episode, that's all behind them now and Greg's (more or less) an honorary CG!

Though I once again wish this was a half hour show so we could've seen more of them running around Empire City seeing the sights and doing different stuff.

Also...did they REALLY spend all 10 milly in one trip?  (I heard crap is expensive in EC, but jeez!).
Greg really SHOULD use some of that for an actual house...

reply

No, he didn't spend it all....at least based on a released clip for an upcoming episode, he buys something. Won't say what.

Yeah, felt like there needed to be more time in Empire City.

Also, felt a little to easy for Steven to get Pearl and Greg to bury the hatchet. Steven's heart is in the right place, but he cannot win every time. (And since when can he play the piano?)

Also, his, "...and Mom!" bit was creepy awkward.

I don't think it was 'too easy' per se, but rather that it was a long time coming. Greg and Pearl needed to be locked up together for a long enough period of time that they can finally have a chance to open up and just vent.

Pearl can be awfully stubborn, and it can easily be mistaken for hostility. I'm glad she admitted that she didn't hate Greg.
And Greg reacts just as I figured he would when he learned how Pearl felt. Not angry or defensive, he just felt bad that she had been so hurt by him and Rose. That's the Greg that Rose fell in love with. That's the Greg that Pearl never saw.

Are they be friends now? Probably not quite yet.
Did they gain more respect for another? Absolutely

This has now gotta be one of my favorite SU episodes of all time, and it didn't even have Peridot!

Also, I suppose learning a new instrument on the fly can just be chalked up to another of Steven's powers.

I wish Pearl had worn a dress, though. The tuxedo didn't look right.

It was one of the best episodes for me because I cried at the two last songs ("It's Over" and "Both of you") a lot.

The episode was a technical masterpiece (directing, art, sound), but the writing was phenomenal too and it was a big step-up for every character:
- Pearl is starting to gain some individuality and to move on from Rose
- Greg fixed it with Pearl
- Steven was chanelling his mom the whole episode, especially on the piano song

Also, we had that nice moral "we can have beautiful things in life without money", which was not the focus, but it sure was there.

I'm glad we didn't see more of Empire City since the episode wasn't about that.

I didn't see a big deal about seeing empire city either, I knew the episode had to have room for the whole Greg and Pearl issue, thank god it finally got some closure, at least I'm assuming the issue is over, isn't it? (I just had to say that) but for a second I actually thought they had a connection, however I don't think they would ever get together. It seemed like something was going on with Greg and amethyst also, in Maximum Capacity, but I'm assuming it wasn't romantic...

The whole sequence of 'It's Over Isn't It?' was amazing. This show always manages to outdo itself and I can't wait to see what takes my breath away next.

Oh and Pearl looked great in the tux and top hat! Reminded me of the episode "Rose's Scabbard"
