The Lauren Zuke Incident

I would put this on Lauren Zuke's page but I suppose SU is a better place to put it here.

Bad news...and even though I'm late here, storyboard artist and writer Lauren Zuke deactivated her Twitter account after so called SU "fans" harass over Lapis and Peridot being together.

And all I can say is wow. Really nice of you, SU Fans for harassing a person like that.

reply

I have to be honest, this fandom is embarrassing.

Sad that those people can't take the message of the show to heart. But for me, the Sleepy Hollow fans (mainly the Nicole Beharie fans) are still the worse. At least based on my experiences on these boards.

reply

Sigh... didn't this fandom learn anything after driving that fan artist Zamii to a suicide attempt last year?

When I heard the news I believed the harassment was anti lgbt people but seeing it was the fans was shock like amidst supporters I guessed would be apart of it but reading people calling her homerphobic for displaying lapis and peridot as a short of married couple/ very close art college roommate saying your just teasing us lgbt people and make us a joke putting them all down when ZUKE IS GAY HERSELF! moments like this make me how can people be so hypercritical.

This fandom has some issues and quite frankly I keep getting the impression some of these people have brain issues because garnet is literally a gay relationship that in my opinion is one of the best fictional relationship in general I have seen in cartoons show how can anyone in the crewniverse be homephobic

reply

You mean the very small amount of trolls who don't represent the fandom as a whole because a fandom isn't a hive mind or something?

Honestly if someone commits suicide because people don't like your fan art you've got bigger problems to deal with.

reply

Get a life, will ya people? For crying out loud...It's just a tv show!

reply

Are you talking about people on this thread or in general I can't tell just want to make sure

reply

I was talking about fans who go to far and harass people. It's a good show, but it's entertainment, not a religion.

Also, previous post was a quote from William Shatner's Saturday Night Live trekkies skit from the 80's.

reply

If Lauren ignored their negative comments, nothing would happened... Sometimes it is necessary to ignore the others!

reply

the irony - whole episode is about not repressing bad feelings ITS OK IM HERE
but then loses *beep* over twitter trolls

reply

I don't understand how someone can be driven to suicide from internet comments. Now if your face is on the news and people on the street are giving you problems, I can understand. But youtube/twitter/social media comments? Please grow thicker skin or get off the internet completely. What Zuke did was smart, to be honest. Keep your stuff private. Or better yet, make a fan/work account and have a personal one accessible to close friends and family only. That way all the negative stuff is pretty much directed to one place.
