Would of preferred the ending a mix of new and old

I think I would of like the live action ending to reflect the 1967 one slightly.

I do like how they made Mowgli go into the village to get the fire torch since Mowgli does not know how to make one.

They should of added the rain/thunder element into it to build more suspense and action. The accidental forest fire I didn't mind if they kept it or not as the rain will eventually put it out.

A pre fight scene with the fire torch with Mowgli and his crew almost getting beaten and also the fire torch getting thrown into the river or whatever would of been nice. Then like the original the thunder saves the day sparking a fire on a bush to help aid Mowgli beat Shere Khan.

Also would of preferred the ending where Mowgli goes back to the village but instead of a little girl tempting him, it is a mother figure who openly accepts him into the village.

I never liked the animated ending. A mother figure would've worked better but it still wouldn't fit his character. I think if you want him ending up in the village it should be a medical thing like john smith in Pocahontas. Otherwise I don't see him being content leaving his home and friends. Then while he's healing he builds a connection with a human.

I quite liked the 1967 animated ending.

The girl's voice, Darleen (sic-not spelt Darlene) Carr, (hey! 2/3rd of MY name!)
had been doing some Disney work like on the previous year,1966,Maurice Chevalier/Dean Jones movie, "Monkeys Go Home", with chimps and another
babe, Yvette Mimieux. Good Disney young star pub even if not in Annette or Hayley's (or even Janet - be still, beating heart- Munro's category) and with just a cameo..

More or less perm sig, occasioanlly to be modified not that it means a *beep* to ANYONE.,.,

In true Disney fashion and unlike the original, they left the ending opened wide enough to accommodate a sequel.

True and I love how they made the elephants revered and heroes in the end. I thought that was a truly brilliant move since Disney movies go worldwide. I absolutely loved this ending.

I was actually thinking about the ending of this film and agree with you that it would have been more emotionally powerful if Mowgli had gone back to the village. But not due to a girl or a mother. It should have been Mowgli, realizing that he had almost destroyed the jungle with fire, who made the sacrifice to return to the village. It should have happened right after he has the elephants direct the water to extinguish the fire. The animals watch as Mowgli makes that decision and leaves them, returning to the world where he belongs. That would have been a powerful ending and I think it would have brought quite a few people to tears.
