I know right? As a kid I loved the elephants and I'm not begging for their song necessarily, I just thought it inconsistent and dumb to make them the only animals that didn't say a word.

reply

The Elephants were not the only animals that did not speak= The monkeys did not speak and neither did the water buffalo.

reply

I haven't seen the film, but it's probably because elephants can't talk.

Well neither can bears and tigers but they did in this movie. Have you not seen the original?

Maybe they're saving that for a sequel?

Funnily enough, Jamie Dorman was originally casted as Hathi, but we never hear of him in the final film.

This movie depicts the elephants as being apart (and above) the other animals. Although the elephants are revered by the other animals, they do not interact with them. So it makes sense to me that the elephants would speak among themselves, but not to any of the other species.

I would have loved to have scene the elephants depicted in the same way they were in the 60s version, cause they were like a platoon, being commanded by a drill sergeant. If someone like Sam Elliot did the voice of the leader/commander, that would have been a plus as well.
