I find the writers framing Kim Wexler as "his Jesse" rather than "his Skyler" very profound and unique storytelling.

Considering how easily the writers could've opted to position Kim as Saul's Skyler. I mean Kim and Skyler both needed the divorce lawyers in their lifes, they could've easily had Kim have a meaningful conversation with Skyler about divorcing their crooked husbands.

Jesse could've soley been in 6x11 as "the Igor" and nobody would've said a word. Or his second scene could've been funny conversation with Nacho just to frame Jesse as "just the business, nothing more". Kim Wexler didn't ever need to meet Jesse Pinkman......yet she ABSOLUTELY needed to meet Jesse Pinkman.


Kim HAS to talk to Jesse, just so we the audience can pair it with Saul talking to Walt one last time. Both Walt and Jesse lamenting about their business partners, both Kim and Saul feeling disrespected and broken. Not to mention Walt having a deliberate moment with the watch.

I see this as the writers really defining the heart, the truth of both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul the way other shows/movies just never do. I feel it can never be overstated how much the duos meant to eachother and the writers aren't actually scared to make these parallels. Kim and Jesse were dedicated to Saul and Walt, Skyler just wasn't and had the right not to be. So framing Kim as Skyler just because they're both "the wife" would've been superficially correct, but would've been substantially false.

Other movies/shows are so painfully stereotypical and stale in comparison to what our writers are doing here.
