I just can’t buy Sauls character in Breaking Bad now as being someone who recently came from this type of life to being the chipper eccentric buffoon that we see in Breaking Bad.
Sure this show has to be exciting and interesting, and it is. This is one of the greatest shows ever. So I understand that they have to have all these things happen but I just feel that Sauls personality wouldn’t be the jubilant flamboyant guy that we see in BB if this was what he went through recently.
I dont care how much he disliked Howard seeing the man shot in the head in cold blood right in front of him would change a person.

I think it probably makes more sense if you look at his development into the Saul persona of BB as a case of extreme compartmentalization to cope with the PTSD, beginning with Chuck's death, then his experience in the desert, and now Howard.

Yes, he compartmentalized the hell out of the Chuck situation. It seems like he even convinced himself 100% that Chuck’s suicide was Howard’s fault and not his own. I don’t even think he told Kim what he did in regards to the malpractice insurance thing, did he?

Nope, he never did. Also, he never told her the last words Chuck said to him: 'You never mattered that much to me".

I feel the same. It doesn't make me think less of the show, it's just going to require quite believable writing to tie him to the Saul of BB given what he has, is and will go through in BCS. Imagine it could end up looking quite jarring watching the BCS and BB episodes back to back now if they don't get it right.

Yeah. Idk. It’s obviously hard since the BB episodes were written first obviously and they didn’t, at the time, foresee writing a whole other show about the character so they didn’t have to envision his history but its hard to imagine his personality now being the way it is given his history.

The thing is we don't see his life outside of his law practice in BB. Like I said above, all these traumatic events we've seen him go through in BCS lead up to him publicly putting on the full Saul persona to deal with his PTSD. Instead of "Justice Matters Most", he fully adopts Lalo's suggestion of "Just Make Money".

That makes sense too. The Saul we see is BB in a public persona.

The rest of this season all the way to finale is going to transform Saul into what we see in BB, yes, that same Saul who hits on “HT” Francesca at the office and doesn’t say word one about Kim Wexler.

Agreed.
But wait!
They still need to get rid of Kim and Lalo. That should also leave him even more scarred and traumatized.

Since this subpar 6th season is made only to get to BB beginning, I bet they will try to spin it like this: Saul becomes at the end a greedy and (fake) upbeat, cynical lawyer only to mask and bury his true feelings of disillusionment and despair, after all these tragedies of the last year.
