Is This a Big Deal in Episode 6 of Season 6? (SPOILERS)

I've read some reviews of the episode, and in those reviews, while much is made of the opening flashback to Kim's childhood con job with her mother, I saw no mention of the close up on their car license plate as it drives away:

Nebraska plates.

Isn't this a big deal? Or have they already established that Kim has Nebraska roots?

Why she could be working right there in the mall....

reply

It was already established back in Season 2 that she's from a small town on the Kansas-Nebraska border, then more specifically in Season 5.

reply

Aha.

Well that explains why the reviewers didn't care.

I guess I just forgot.

Thanks.

reply

I was just thinking about it and came here to write about that.

Kim is from Nebraska. Jimmy chose to hide in Nebraska.

I seriously doubt there isn’t a connection.

Granted, Jimmy looks to be living alone and have no human connections. So, I don’t he has communication with Kim.

It could be simply to remember her.

reply

Actually, in Breaking Bad, we are given the impression that it was Ed the disappearer who chose Nebraska for Jimmy. Jimmy himself seemed to be unaware of where he was going to be relocated.
That said, we know that Kim is aware of Ed (because she saw the vacuum store business card). She could potentially have contacted Ed when Jimmy had to flee and requested that Jimmy be relocated to Nebraska.

I just rewatched that scene and you are right.

And what you said is a great possibility.

Still, it seems it’s been one or two years when the future scenes happen and Saul looks very alone.

Maybe Kim is waiting for things to cool off?

reply

If they are both in Nebraska, I doubt they can risk meeting publicly or often or even at all.
