Does anyone else have a more balanced or a more nuanced view of the situation instead of seeing things so simplistically (a black vs white situation) where Henry is viewed as a SAINT and OLIVE as the SINNER???
--------------
You obviously chose to see things from Henry's POV and disregard the way 2 people died as a result of what he did, whereas Olives SAVED the lives of 2 people (her former student and the girl who fell over the side of the cliff that was rescued by the suicidal former student).
Also NOTE the way NO ONE (not even Henry's own son who doesn't visit him for four years) was there for him in his coma like state even though Henry had been there for the needs of the town prior to that as their pharmacist.
The wife of Murray's character didn't even recognize him -- and after she's told who he is -- she also treated him like a low life employee or servant -- by asking him to get her something for nausea on her upcoming vacation (even though he didn't own or run the store anymore).
In other words, NO ONE but Olive was left for Henry either at the end of his life, even though Henry had tried to be friendly and wasn't as overtly rude to them as Olive could be. That's the kind of SUBTLE NUANCE that people like yourself keep overlooking in this story.
That
the relationships between these characters are much more multi-layered, meaningful and complicated than the other overly simplistic views that one finds being expressed.
Everything isn't "Black or White". There are many "Shades of Grey" to be found.
Again, the QUESTIONS and other comments that were put forth which you've IGNORED (which is also RUDE) are the following:
What would you have done if you witnessed your husband/wife/or parent spoon feeding another adult at the dinner table???
Do you think Olive handled the situation correctly???
Also NOTE the way Henry got rid of Olive's friend Casey whereas Olive was much more understanding of the feelings that Henry felt for Denise.
Also NOTE the way Olive predicted Henry would get involved with someone younger after the death of the other older woman who originally worked for him prior to Denise being hired at the pharmacy.
You've also IGNORED the ORIGINAL QUESTIONS put forth in the OP as well which are as follows:
Was anyone else creeped out by the scene where Henry "Spoon Feeds" Denise as if she were a baby sitting in a high chair while his wife and son sit there watching him with looks of shock on their faces at what they're seeing???
Why was Henry so utterly clueless about the effect that it was having on them???
