Advice please

I'm pretty early into the game and I just can't get to grips with it at all?
Keep on dying, have no idea how to use potions get armour and new weaponry

This is my first RPG so I knew there would be a lot to get through but finding it pretty damn hard!

Basically,is there any tips/hints you can give me. (I'm expecting a few smartass answers )

there's an option for a short tutorial at the beginning, I'd recommend you not to skip that part! then you'll grow in easily.

Wow..mate you have really started at the deep end with rpg games.im a seasoned gamer.with assassins creeds gtas far crys skyrim dragon age etc etc under my belt and im trying to get to grips myself with it myself.this is the biggest of them all.but the thing about these games it doesnt rush you.just explore get lost do side quests as well as main missions go at your own pace.
If you only want to do main missions then cool if you have trouble finding the destination of them get on your horse and hold the gallop speed button and it willtake you straight to the missions or quests no analog stick required.X button for ps4.
My advice thou 2 3 things which i feel is important get your attack and defence down to an art before you really get into it otherwise you will struggle big time get a routine going like example block .hit twice .dodge hit etc etc.
2nd .stock up on resourses food drink etc
For your health other wise you will die over and over again just loot everything you see using withcher sense they glow yellow.or you can meditate.
3rd .save as often as possible after u have done anything explored an area .save it after.killed something found something save it coz this world is unpridictable and could die at any moment.
U should pick up other tips tricks along the way if you have problems just write in mate all the best to you

Iv been playing games a long long time too. Just rpg's iv never really got into, played a bit of fallout but never tried the likes of Elder Scrolls.
I'm only as far as wandering in the dark mission and I keep on dying?
I'm nearly thinking of restarting again and play it properly instead of going in too quick. I only played the tutorial once but I'm gonna be more though this time, make sure I know how to use the armour, potions etc

If you are starting out stock up on all food. Go to shops and buy them out in everything (from fried chicken to pepper to cranberry juice; everything). You will need to use a lot during battles. Also make sure to meditate before any tough combat if your health is low.

I'm a hacker and slasher so all my skill points have gone to combat skills so far. Boost your normal attacks first, make yourself strong so you have something to fall back on and worry about potions later on.

If you keep dying then you might be doing the wrong quests at the wrong time. Red quests are extremely hard. Green quests are normal and challenging. Gray quests are relatively easy because you have out leveled them.

If combat is your issue, don't be afraid to run away. You won't fail the quest unless it's a special situation. Also learn to block and roll. The game explains most of this stuff to you. They even explain potions. There's a lot of stuff to read to learn about things.

Rpg games can be overwhelming but if you're a new Comer, you don't have to know everything instantly. You'll gradually learn it if you take it slow and stick with it.

I found Bloodborne hard and that's not my fault. They made that game hard on purpose. The Witcher 3 is far more accessible than that masochistic videogame.

Got to grips with it now. I just wen head first into it but playing it a lot more slowly. It's a brilliant brilliant game

Good job. Way to stick with it. You'll be a master of it soon.

Is fallout the same type of thing?obvs different setting I know but I'm really loving the witcher

reply

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were both quite similar but eased you in more gently. Currently really enjoying The Witcher 3 but looking forward to Fallout 4 even more.
