How Will Anyone Make Another RPG After This?

Not because the game is so good, but because it's gained a rather large fanbase of people who'll say any other RPG is bad because it isn't as big as this game.

Now, this is a HUGE game, no denying that. So of course it's set a standard. But not every game can do this. Some devs may want to do it differently, but people constantly will say 'It's not as good as TW3, so I'll hate it. Yeah, let's say it's awful just because it's different'.

What I'm saying is, please give other RPGs a go. This game may have more content than other games that come out, but please give others a go and rate them on what they have in them. Not every game has as big a dev team and budgets as this.

I love the Witcher franchise.Games & Books. The 3rd one is a masterpiece.I played it 3 times. 2nd one is very good as well. Actually Witcher 3 introduced me to RPG gaming especially on Xbox. I bought Witcher 2 & Shadows of Mordor after that. But I started playing Dragon Age Inquisition last week and I love it as well. Different story and concept but amazing game. So for me Witcher 3 was just a beginning of my love for RPG games but I got an idea what I want from game. I believe it is a mistake to entirely compare other games to Witcher. It's like compare apples and oranges. Every game is unique.

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground

That happens every time any new game is released :)

Ultimately it dies down and they get judged on their own merits.

Better crossbows would be nice. There is no stealth build in Witcher.

The Witcher 3 is an absolute masterpiece. Rarely will I give a video game 10/10 but this is a 10/10 game for sure.

So to comment on your post OP I am sure we'll see developers trying to copy the magic of Witcher 3.

Will they? Hard to say.

Witcher 3 captures the era of the early 1980's fantasy novels and movies better than any form of entertainment since that era.

It's not just a game but an experience which is why Witcher 3 is such a strong narrative.

Find me a game where the sidequests are more interesting than most video games main story lines. YOU CAN'T!

The only thing that will probably compare to Witcher 3 in the future in size and quality, will be CD Projekts Cyberpunk 2077.

I can't wait.

Does SR: Gat out of Hell count for having better sidelines, because technically it doesn't have a main story?

You are right. There will still be brilliant RPGs, but just no Witcher 3 level. Maybe even CD Projekt Red can't top it. That has happened to game developers or movie makers before.

It's hardly a masterpiece. It's a good game. But great? It's not. Not by a long shot. And yes this game will be overshadowed by something else in the future.

Much the same was said about Skyrim when it first came out and then inexpicably many turned against it. The same will happen with The Witcher 3.

The problem right now is the video game industry is in big trouble for these types of games. the dirt word 'live service' is around and companies are just ripping of stupid people that buy loot boxes and micro transactions and these rinse and repeat type games like fallout 76 Anthem Battlefront. etc etc all those ending in a disaster but they made their profit

Cyberpunk might come close. my issue is gonna be I have problems playing first person games I get headaches and feel sick. so that is a massive gripe and disappointment for me but I think that game could be as good as witcher 3

Only CD project Red can do it. And Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out very soon.
