Does it need the re-enactments?

Guess I'm so used to the show "I Survived..." Where it's mostly just the person talking to a single Camera with occasional title cards. You let your imagination fill in the blanks. Not saying I don't like the show. Just wondering.

Most shows on ID have reenactments, so I am used to them. They're also playing bigger roles in new shows, sadly. I do wish I could see more of the interviews than anything else.

I don't find them to be totally necessary, but the ones on this show are no where near the mess you see on Deadly Women or Wicked Attraction (and the like).

I actually enjoy the reenactments for "Wicked attraction" and "Deadly women". :-) They feel like mini movies to me. Best part of "Deadly Women" is Candace De Long's insight.

Same goes for "Scorned: Love Kills" even though they hire near enough looking Models/Porn Stars to play the Men and Women. The actors are pretty but do not look anywhere near like the real people. But I guess that's part of the "fun".

Oh, I know what you're saying! They are deliciously messy and ridiculous. A true guilty pleasure.

And they've started to really give the "actors" dialogue which adds to the entertainment... especially in regards to Deadly Women, where literally everyone slips into an Australian accent regardless of whether they're supposed to be from Australia or not.

Oh, yes.
Particularly enjoyable are the "dead" bodies breathing and/or their eyelids twitching...

I hate the reenactments on some of the ID shows & other true crime shows because most of the actors they get are SO bad! And you notice, they're usually better looking than the actual people. :)

I'm sorry but what does their looks have to do with anything?? The last thing I am thinking about while watching these true crime shows is oh wow, the actor is hot but the real life person is hideous. My thoughts are pretty much, oh sh!t I can't believe they got through that or omg I hate that the person died.

Having the victim re-enact the crime is a horrible idea. It is one thing to talk about what happened and explain it in detail but to have the victim or as I like to consider myself the survivor re-enact it over and over again so they can get it on camera is poor judgement on the producer. I am not a professional actress. I'm not going to do it perfect in one take nor do you need me to just so you can get your actor an idea of how I was attacked. I am a real human being that had a horrible situation happen to me and I am more than ratings for a tv show. However I will still tell my story because as survivors need to know we are not alone! If my story has helped just one person go from thinking they are victim to thinking they are a survivor then I have succeeded in what I set out to do. Dear chllywlly27, I AM SO freeking PROUD of YOU!! Realizing YOU ARE A SURVIVOR!! NOT the 'victim'. Personally speaking, from MY heart, just reading your post, YOU have MADE a HUGE difference to ME!! And damn anyone else that's probably going to ridicule me or post something nasty! I too know exactly what you're saying, where you're coming from! And THAT is from another survivor/over-comer!! I also agree what you had to say about the 'looks' of the actors and I'm disgusted by the comments of 'looks hotter'. Say WHAT?? Demented! There's NOTHING 'sexy'-'hot' about this!!
