Minor spoilers:
During that fight in apartment Quarry left for sure several fingerprints. Then when he left the scene, it was well visible how he touches stairways railing with bloody hand. And police did not ask him for giving fingerprint sample, nor they took prints on scene at all ??? Total unbelievable.
They did but it wasn't nearly as easy or complete as it is today. It could take weeks or even a couple of months just to do a preliminary search of the cards. Oftentimes it was done after the fact in an effort to help secure the conviction.
They also could test for blood type. Many convictions were based on this alone. Especially in the 60's and 70's. ( Don't know before then b/c that would be before my time.)
