Great Ist Episode
Really loving the pacing and tension. The Broker looks to be an interesting character, as well. Looking forward to what's next.

I'd have to say that, at least right out of the gate, Buddy seems to be the most interesting.
shareyep, great start for a new gritty series, I'm hooked.

yeah it provides a more than adequate centre and framework for escalating events of violence, sex and drugs etc. a great new Cinemax show!

+1
The pilot exceeded my expectations. Strong storyline too.
The outfits, hairstyles etc. are cringe worthy. That's a style I don't see coming back soon. LOL
That last scene was a punch in the gut -- I had a visceral reaction, watching her, watching him, wondering what happens next. (Me, I'd be outta there.) Very powerful.
Except for Dewey Crow and Marlo Stanfield, all the actors are new to me.
Excellent start to a series. I was hoping I could find more episodes on demand. And binge watch. Looking forward to next episode.
shareI love the show and I'm happy they went with appropriate clothing and hair styles for the period. The early 70s were tacky, lots of multicolored polyester shirts and Superfly pimp wear. They're actually pretty subdued on the show.
Also, it's a treat to see his wife wearing cute little bikini panties and babydoll nighties, sporting no tattoos, nose rings or trashy thongs.
My only quibble is that he came home from the army with way too long hair for a soldier just discharged at that time. He would have had short military hair. They could have used a short hair wig for the opening episode.
Loved the hell out of it. Great script, direction and performances and amazing music. Dare I say best pilot since Breaking Bad (guess I just did).
Censors tend to do what psychotics do,they confuse reality with illusion David Cronenberg
Loved it too! And I've watched several times now, and it looks even better after repeat viewings! Oh...and the music is killer and spot on!!!!
"Today is the tomorrow I was so worried about yesterday"--Anthony Hopkins
Liked the opener too. Hope Yaitanes can do as well with this opening season as he did with Banshee.
How terrible is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise
Agreed. Too bad Marlo was shot in first episode tho.
In Vino Veritas.
