The movie is 'Carnival of Souls' (1962), which also happens to be the name of the episode. Great, understated flick that influenced many after it, and also ties into some of the general themes of Quarry as a whole. But saying more would spoil the plot (and plot device) of CoS!
It's weird. I actually watched that movie right before I watched this episode. I recognized it immediately.
