Ottis Redding for President

The 70's had the best music ever. The soundtrack was brilliant as was the story and characters.

Haha, let me guess, you were born in the 50ies or 60ies? 😉

The 60ies had better jazz IMHO, but the 70ies had better electronic music then the 60ies, granted. As far as pop/punk/leftfield, the 80ies rule hands down. Disco is mixed between the 70ies and 80ies.
I don't know, I think the only thing the 70ies really had above other musical decades was "soul music", indeed. Other than that, I'll take the 60ies, 80ies and 90ies, hands down, even if I love so much of the 70ies.
In the end, it just makes little sense to use such absolutes as "best ever" without more context...

Yes I was in High School in the 70's, I suppose they were some of the best years of my life. I had a small crystal radio with ear phones and listened to the radio pretty much all day. Watching Quarry took me back to the good old days of amazing music from that era. When Polk Salad Annie came on I actually teared up with joy remembering great times!
But saying that, all that was in the news in those days was the Vietnam war and protests. I suppose watching Quarry created a juxtaposition of good and evil.
Yes every decade had amazing music but the 70's was extraordinary.
Quarry in every aspect was brilliantly executed!

Great turmoil creates great art. I graduated high school in 75, so ZZ Top, Doobie Bros, Bowie, Steely Dan, were my go to discs, along with the big 5: Beatles, Stones, Who, Zepplin, and Doors which were introduced to me by my older siblings.

Surprised they haven't done a Johnny Rivers tribute at some point.
