Horrible casting. Dewey Crowe is a bumbling idiot, and can not be taken seriously as a successful contract killer, or successful anything for that matter. Probably not fair to the actor, but Dewey Crowe was such a terrific character, there is no choice but typecast.

I loved Dewey - his final scene was heart wrenching lamenting how he wished things were like the good old days before Boyd killed him.

shareI actually did see the first couple of episodes a few years ago. Liked the western vibe, but it didn't really grab me. Certainly had none of Quarry's visual style.
But I will maybe give it another shot at some point, not the first time I have heard it gets better.
If anything, I would say Justified is more comparable to the Fargo series: it does an excellent job of utilizing quirky characters while telling a very compelling story. You also grow to like the villains.
shareFargo is another show I watched a bit of, but couldn't get into. In that case I think it's because I'm too attached to the film though, because I tried again in season two and ended up watching all of it. I just needed to come to terms with it being something different.
That sort of small town crime stuff is great and makes me think I would enjoy Justified.
I'll pretend the thread is not moronic and answer anyway. He's good at his job but hates it and the rest of his life is a dumpster fire. Great actor as is evident by you buying into his role as Dewey so completely.
