Why does he have to pay off the black guy's debt?

He didn't lose the 30K.

No, but Quarry was a willing participant throughout that ordeal. The whole reason Quarry went with his friend on that job was to watch his back and ensure that everything ran smoothly. What was supposed to be a cleanly orchestrated hit turned out to be a real sh-t show. Had Quarry refused his friend's offer and not included himself into the situation, I doubt he would've inherited all that debt.

But I thought the 30K was just to agree to the first hit.
And you got 4K for the first hit itself.
So even though he failed on the first hit, wouldn't the black guy still get to keep the 30K? At least I thought that's how Broker explained it.

Bad guy is out of pocket by $30k
White guy assumes debt
