Young scientist finds he as a horrible terminal illness, he reacts with shy gawky smiles. World-famous scientist is confined to a wheelchair and cannot speak, he still reacts with shy gawky smiles. And in all his other films, it's all shy gawky smiles! Really, the AMPAS rewarded the wrong actor in this film, Jones was the one who made everything work.
